Images to animated GIF

Combine images into an animated GIF or APNG in your browser. Set frame delay, looping, size and dithering.

About images to animated gif

Add images in the order you want them shown, set a per-frame delay, and export an animated GIF or APNG. Frames are resized to a common canvas and encoded in the browser.

GIF is limited to 256 colours per frame, so the encoder runs a median-cut quantiser and optional Floyd–Steinberg dithering to pick the best palette. APNG keeps full colour and alpha, at a larger file size.

Because the encoder runs locally, your images are never uploaded. That also means large frames use your own CPU and memory.

Frequently asked

Should I export GIF or APNG? GIF is supported everywhere but is capped at 256 colours with hard-edged transparency. APNG keeps full colour and smooth alpha and is supported by every current browser, but files are bigger and some older apps will only show the first frame.

Why does my GIF look grainy? That is colour quantisation. Turn on dithering to trade sharpness for smoother gradients, or reduce the frame size so the palette covers less variation.
