PNG compressor

Shrink a PNG in your browser. Lossless keeps every pixel. Lossy reduces colours for a smaller file. Nothing is uploaded.

About png compressor

Drop or paste one PNG. Lossless recompresses the file and leaves every pixel unchanged. Lossy reduces the palette, which is what makes a much smaller file, and the picture can change slightly.

JPEG, WebP and GIF are left alone on purpose. This tool only recompresses PNG bytes.

The compressor loads the first time you click Compress, so visiting other tools does not download it. Large files use your own CPU.

Frequently asked

Is this the same as TinyPNG or pngquant? Lossy is the same idea: fewer colours, so the file shrinks more. Lossless keeps every pixel and only rewrites the PNG. TinyPNG runs on their server; this runs in your browser.

Why did my file not get smaller? The PNG was already well compressed, or shrinking it further would change pixels. The download is still a valid PNG.

Is my image uploaded? No. Encoding runs in your browser. Nothing you drop is sent to a server.
