Reverse complement converter

Reverse, complement, or reverse-complement a DNA or RNA sequence, including IUPAC codes.

About reverse complement converter

The reverse complement is the strand you would read 5' to 3' on the opposite side of a duplex. DNA pairs A with T and C with G. RNA pairs A with U.

IUPAC codes are complemented too: R with Y, M with K, and so on. An unrecognised letter becomes N and is counted in the warning under the result.

Frequently asked

What is the difference between complement and reverse complement? The complement swaps each base for its pair and keeps the same left-to-right order. The reverse complement also flips the string, which is the 5' to 3' sequence of the opposite strand.

How does RNA mode treat T? RNA mode pairs A with U. A T in the input is treated as U, so that base still pairs with A. DNA mode pairs A with T.
